I heard this class sucks, so I made this guide.
4506
PROS:
  • Flamethrower goes brrrrrrrrr - Flame Vortex
  • Airstrike goes kapoosh - Dragon Blaze
  • Levels crazy fast from 80 to 140 - Flame Gear & Meteor Shower
  • Amazing Cleavage - (Greens first at Zakum)
  • Can tank most bosses without hp scrolls - thanks Magic Guard & Increasing Max MP
Cons:
  • Bad single target damage - unwanted class for daily bosses
  • Magic Guard can be dispelled - stop alt tabbing
  • Uses lots of mana - what are you poor?
EVERYTHING into INT, absolutely no LUK...
Until around Lv. 80
  • You need 105 LUK to wear your Lv. 103 staff
    • Buy equips scrolled with LUK
    • Increase your base LUK through stat window (if you're poor)
    • Or a combination of both
5023
See "Gearing" section (up next) for an example on how to achieve 105 LUK
You don't need to worry about armor/accessories until Lv. 103

Level83064 (optional)70103163
WeaponBeginner's Magician WandPink Flowered TubeMaple Shine Wand OR
Maple Wisdom Staff
Elemental Wand 1Elemental Staff 1Elemental Wand 5
  • 5015Base (4 LUK)
  • 5016Single Earrings (10 LUK)
  • 5017Chaos Zakum Helmet (23 LUK) - scrolled ones can go up to 40+ stats
  • 5018Horned Tail Necklace(22 LUK)
  • 5019Crimsonheart cloak (16 LUK)
  • 5020Captain Knight Medal (4th Job Cygnus) (2 LUK)
  • 5021Bosshunter Gi (16 LUK)
  • 5022Maple Magician Shield (10 LUK)
In this example, we only achieve 103 LUK. We can achieve 105 LUK by:
  • adding more LUK to the stat window
  • use 2 AP Resets to move 2 points from INT into LUK
  • buying gears that give more LUK
Add base LUK (I have 55)
Buy better LUK Gears
  • 5055 Maple Leaf (4 LUK)
Craft LUK Gears
  • Add LUK crystal to your shoes with maker skill
  • My shoes give me +10 LUK
4505
Level 10: +1 Magic Claw (1)
Level 11-14: +Increased Max MP (10) / +Magic Claw (2)
Level 15-20: +Magic Claw (20)
Level 21-24: +Magic Guard (10) / +Flame (1)
Level 25-30: +Flame (18)
  • Maximize mana early on for a thicc magic guard
  • Magic Claw is main damage ability (ranged and melee)
  • Flame doesn't do jack until a mob is up close
Level 30: +1 Teleport (1)
Level 31: +Fire Pillar (1) / +Spell Booster (2)
Level 32-37: +Spell Booster (20)

Level 51-57: +Elemental Reset (20) / +Meditation (1)
Level 58-64: +Meditation (20) / +Slow (1)
Level 65-70: +Slow (19)
  • Max Spell Booster first so you can spam Fire Pillar
  • Fire Pillar is main mobbing ability, but dmg increase from levels is minimal
  • Slow is useless, change my mind
  • Elemental Reset occasionally useful when fighting monsters that are fire-resistant
Level 70: +1 Flame Gear (1)
Level 71-81: +Flame Gear (30) / +Elemental Amp. (1)
Level 82-88: +Elemental Amp. (20) / +Ele. Resist. (1)
Level 89-95: +Ele. Resist (20)
  • Skip Lv. 100 skill quest
    • Ifrit is useless

  • Talk Oz in Ereve
  • Go Third Drill Hall

  • Go back to Oz
Level 111-120: +Fire Strike (30)
  • Flame Gear is how you Power level 80-140 at Shao 7 (see leveling section)
  • Elemental Amp. makes you use more mana for ALL skills, but do more dmg
  • Meteor Shower is your FMA
  • Fire strike is good for 4th job adv's boss battle
  • Seal is useless
  • Ifrit is useless
Buy skill books for:
  • Flame Vortex
  • Infinity
  • Dragon Blaze
  • Megiddo Flame
Buy the 20, 30, & 40 mastery books when appropriate

Level 120-130: +Infinity (30)
Level 131-143: +Flame Vortex (39)
Level 144: +Flame Vortex (40) / +Dragon Blaze (2)
Level 145-156: +Dragon Blaze (38)
Level 157: +Dragon Blaze (40) / +Megiddo Flame (1)
Level 158-170: +Megiddo Flame (40)
Level 171+: Doesn’t matter
  • 4th job skills are purely for bossing
    • you won't use any for mobbing 120-140
  • If you want to do Czak early, max Flame Vortex first & use 5024 ssiws cheese during arms
    • If not, then max Infinity first for occasional mobbing damage spike
  • Infinity is MASSIVE damage buff
    • +220 MA like5024 ssiws cheese but lasts longer
    • Useful for Greening during Zakum arms when used with Flame Vortex
  • Dragon Blaze does big dmg, but 5 second downtime
    • Use when available for max DPS
  • Megiddo Flame debuffs bosses
    • -90% defense on enemy for 30 seconds (good for bossing)
    • also does one big hit
  • Flame Barrier is inferior Holy Shield

4503
You can quest or grind too, but PQ is always faster at early levels
  • 30-45: Carnival PQ 1
    • Not worth using XP buff (doesn't apply to reward XP)
  • 45-51: Elin PQ
    • ~2 lvls/clear on bond
  • 51-55: Turn in 7 Weekly Quests
  • 55-7: Pirate PQ
    • ~1 lvl/clear on bond
Use bond if impatient, but I recommend saving for RNJ if you want 1-81 within same day.
  • 70-80 Romeo & Juliet PQ
    • 2 lvls/clear on bond
This is where being a Blaze Wizard begins.
(Special Thanks to BunBoBae & wizardblade for recommending these locations)

Pop XP Buffs when training
Buy LOTS of ginger ales from Miu
  • These mobs hit hard
Keep Magic Guard up.
  • Go Ulu Estate II or Skeles (smega for tp & save map to rock)
  • Flame Gear all over map
  • Change channel
  • Flame Gear all over map
  • Go back to previous channel
  • Last hit
    • Personally, I just replant Flame Gear to last hit
  • Repeat
Your Flame Gear does %HP over time, all you need to do is last hit them when you cc back.

The reason I recommend moving to Shao 7 past 103 is because they give more XP and you now have more INT to not MISS on them when last hitting

(Special Thanks to BunBoBae & wizardblade for letting me know you MISS even when last hitting when attempting Shao 7 at lvl 80)

You can do this until 140 if you want, but I prefer FMAing at Skeles starting at 110 because less sweaty and still very good XP.
(Shoutout to InforKno for this location)

Pop XP Buffs when training
  • Go Skeles
  • Recruit HS, HB, 1 Bot Attack, 2 leechers (pref SE & MU)
These are all party buffs that will optimize XP gainz
  • Go in dungeon (yellow circle)
  • Meteor Shower top 2 platforms
Getting HB is ideal if you don't want Meteor Shower using whole MP bar (Thanks Ele. Amp)
Go to each map and spam "J>leech or inv pls"
Ulu Estate I and II are usually empty, so:
Only leech if used up all daily Family XP buffs on Shao 7
[Blaze Wizard] How to Chaos Zakum @lvl. 143 (other bosses are self-explanatory)
Do I recommend this as a first class?
No, I recommend making a bishop first.
  • Bishop is highly demanded by boss/leeches
    • unlike Blaze Wizard
Weak single target damage
  • makes this class unwanted by daily boss parties
    • unlike Bishop
Why should I make a Blaze Wizard?
Easily Green at Zakum and Horntail for coins (white scrolls)
Blessing of the Fairy alt for Bishop
  • leveling up here, makes your other characters on same account stronger, vice versa)
Similar playstyle as bishop
  • Magic guard
  • Teleport
  • FMA
  • Share mage gear with Bishop

Please leave a like or comment if you have any questions :D

Another person sleeping on elemental reset?!

That skill is great for bossing and some mobs that are strong against fire. For example, the giant spider and Geist Rog are strong against fire so doing ER would up your damage.

Wdym lol i have this in the 2nd job skill build section:
  • Elemental Reset occasionally useful when fighting monsters that are fire-resistant
    • Widgets (Left Bracket)
    • Monster Info
    • If fire-resistant, use this skill
Although, I could change the wording to “it greatly increasing dmg against fire resistant enemies”

Yes that's what I mean. It's not very occasional when there's so many instances to use it.

The only mobs I've ever used it for one of the zakum's arms and the oblivion monsters in tot.

If there's a list of fire-resistant monsters somewhere I'll add a spoiler.

Added a link to all monsters with each elemental weakness

Going to keep it as "occasionally useful" since the majority of mobs in the game are not fire-resistant.
